Vietnam entry requirements
Travellers on British, German and Japanese passports can visit Vietnam without a visa for up to 45 days. US, Canadian, Australian and New Zealand travellers apply for an e-visa (US$25 single entry) on evisa.gov.vn. Everyone without a Vietnamese passport completes the free pre-arrival declaration, from 3 days before arriving, at every airport in Vietnam.

Do I need a visa for Vietnam?
Not on British, German or Japanese passports for stays of up to 45 days. US, Canadian, Australian and New Zealand travellers need an e-visa from evisa.gov.vn.
How much is the Vietnam e-visa?
US$25 for a single entry or US$50 for multiple entries, valid for up to 90 days. The fee isn't refunded if the visa isn't granted.
What is Vietnam's digital arrival card?
It's the free pre-arrival declaration at prearrival.immigration.gov.vn. Since June 2026 it's required at every airport in Vietnam for anyone without a Vietnamese passport.
When can I submit the Vietnam pre-arrival declaration?
Not more than 3 days before you arrive, or on arrival at the airport by QR code or paper form.
