How does the 90/180-day rule work?

On any day of your stay, look back over the previous 180 days, including that day. You can't have spent more than 90 of them in the Schengen area.

Do entry and exit days count?

Yes. Both the day you arrive and the day you leave count as days in the Schengen area.

Does the UK count towards the 90 days?

No. The United Kingdom and Ireland aren't part of the Schengen area.

Which passports does the rule apply to?

Visa-free visitors such as US, British, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand and Japanese passport holders on short stays. EU citizens travel freely.
