Going to Bali as a family: what each traveller needs

The short answer

Every traveller, including children and babies, needs three things for Bali: a Visa on Arrival or e-VOA (IDR 500,000 each), their own free All Indonesia arrival card within 3 days before you land, and the IDR 150,000 Bali tourism levy, paid once per trip. For a family of four, that's 12 items to sort before you land, plus four declarations for the flight home.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Check every passport

Each passport, including your children's, needs at least 6 months' validity when you arrive in Indonesia. Have proof of your return or onward flight ready.

  2. 2

Choose e-VOA or Visa on Arrival

Both cost IDR 500,000 and let you stay up to 30 days, extendable once for another 30. Applying online at evisa.imigrasi.go.id before you fly means less to do at the airport.

  3. 3

    Pay the tourism levy

Pay IDR 150,000 per person on lovebali.baliprov.go.id. You'll get a QR voucher by email for each traveller.

  4. 4

Three days before you land, do the arrival cards

Complete one All Indonesia card per traveller at allindonesia.imigrasi.go.id or in the official app. It covers immigration, customs, health and quarantine, and gives each person a QR code.

  5. 5

    Keep every QR code together

Have each traveller's e-VOA, arrival card QR code and levy voucher ready on one phone before you reach immigration.

  6. 6

    Before you fly home

New Zealanders complete a New Zealand Traveller Declaration from 24 hours before the flight. Australians complete an Incoming Passenger Card on the plane.

  • e-VOA: evisa.imigrasi.go.id (IDR 500,000)

Look-alike sites often appear above the official ones in search results and charge extra service fees for the same forms. The official arrival card is always free.
